NEW YEAR'S EVE

Celebrate by the Lake!

Get ready Canberra – it’s time to welcome 2026 with spectacular fireworks, food and music!

You’re invited to celebrate New Year’s Eve on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin with spectacular fireworks displays.

Pack a picnic or grab a bite to eat from the local food trucks at one of the four celebration hubs at Rond Terrace, Wendouree Drive, John Dunmore Lang Place (Commonwealth Place), and at Ferry Gate (Regatta Point).

Please note: due to construction and roadworks there will not  be a hub at Barrine Drive (Regatta Point) this year.

Local DJs will provide entertainment from 6pm at each of the hubs, while a synchronised soundtrack will accompany the two fireworks displays as they launch from Central Basin at 9pm and midnight. Fireworks will not be launched from Commonwealth Avenue Bridge this year.

Canberra’s Mix 106.3 will also be broadcasting the firework soundtrack live to air. Canberrans can tune in to experience the fireworks in perfect sync with the music, whether you're at one of the lakeside hubs or enjoying the view elsewhere.

Food trucks, first aid, portable toilets, and security will be provided at each of the hubs.

If you are keen to continue the celebrations after the fireworks, head into the city and support some of our great local venues and businesses to bring in the new year.

The event map will be available shortly along with parking and public transport information.
